Ups and downs, true and false, lefts and rights, good or bad. It is always the same, always two options, to do or not to do. It is quite amusing how deciding can get hard, how two simple option overwhelm us.
Shall I work hard, or not? That is the question I ask myself every day, and it still has no definite answer. How could I ever know that, the future is not guaranteed, and it is not clear whether if working hard pays off. Every day I have to go through seeing useless people, dumb and stupid humans who do not deserve a fraction of what they own. It is because of those unfair situations why my question looses meaning. Why should I even care doing things right, suffering for making the world a better place, if a whole lot of people do not even care and they already have achieved more than I have? It is so frustrating to see lazy people been rewarded, stupid people being awarded, evil ones being worshipped. It manes no sense. No one is worshipping my ways, and I care for them, no one claps when I do something admirable, and I intend to do them everyday. I question myself if it is worthy putting so much effort on something, so then it can just be forgotten and ignored. Every single day I persuade kindness and wisdom, and every single day I see everyone praying to unintelligent and rude individuals. Does anyone really meditate about what they do? Does anyone think about their actions and consequences? Or does everyone just act by impulses trying to be liked?
In the end we need to trial our own ideals, how we live and how we socialize. I did so, and I realized we do not seek for what is admirable. Instead we just look for fun, careless fun, short term happiness provided by the satisfaction of immediate approval. People laughing at your stupidities is a nice example. Feeling accepted by mocking at the disgraces of the minority would do just about right as well. Relentlessly we seek and find quick reactions to these behaviors, feeding and grossing even more this idea os stupid fun.
If and only if you stop and deeply think about what it means to be happy, you will find the answer. Happiness is not being accepted by your high school friends, or laugh among others about something in common. Happiness is to lay down, rest and think that you are doing everything almost perfect. Halting and recalling about everything you have done, and how well you have done it. Closing your eyes and feeling that special person just next to you, feeling each other's breaths, feeling how quiet and still everything is, and how great everything is going. It is not comparable to other kinds of happiness. The true one is not provided by mere approval, only by interior tranquility and love.
Therefore, going back to the initial dilemma, yes, it is worthy working hard and making the world a better place. Even if you are not looking for the perfect happiness, and you only want void and meaningless fun, working hard and making things right will make you the true kind of happy person, indeed. Working hard, being careful, putting effort into everything does pay off, at least when you are in need for something superior, some kind of major happiness. For me it is as clear as water what kind of human I aspire to be, and for me the answer has been showed. Meditation, thinking, being able to look further is what everyone needs to open their eyes to the new, more fulfilling world that lies ahead. Well in fact it it nor lying ahead, it is here now, but we cannot appreciate it until we go through this.
I did wonder how a new form of happiness could come upon my emotional void, and I found the answer. You need no aid from anyone, nothing or no one can help you, it is a matter of you yourself alone. A process of self understanding, easy to reach, at a stone's throw, still only available for those willing to see reality, to give up optimism and pessimism, to adopt a new way of life based on your desires and needs, but not immediate pleasures, but long term joy and fulfillment.
We should care about the world. We should care about people. We should care about caring.
Problems are not solved by ignorant stupid people, only the ones who care and have the courage to suffer for someone else can solve problems. Big deals deal with a lot of people, yet not a lot of us want or can solve these issues. Only a minority with the capacities necessary can propose solutions which can be applied. Only people who care, who are able of thinking not only of fun and pleasure, who look further into the future, people who mind, people who do not give up just because of the difficulty of the task, only the ones ready to work hard can be heroes.
The choice is ours in the end. Eventually we are to choose between being selfish, valueless, lazy and fun humans, or careful, hardworking, altruistic and happy heroes.
